오늘 찬양을 듣고 찾아본 내용이다. 알고 보니 대만의 한 목사님께서 정부의 핍박으로 감옥에 갇혀서 쓴 시이다.Clipped from CM Kao's Bible Study Material of the 23rd Counsel of World Alliance of Reformed Churches.

God's way is the best way
In the 1980s the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan suffered political persecution, and some of our church leaders (including myself) suffered imprisonment. Many Christians in Taiwan as well as in many countries throughout the world prayed earnestly and constantly for the improvement of human rights conditions in Taiwan.
For some years we could not see any changes in our society. However, through the sacrificial efforts of many human rights leaders, God changed the human rights situation in Taiwan step by step. All political prisoners were released. Martial law was finally lifted and abolished after forty years, one of the longest periods of martial law in world history. Many of our church's suggestions regarding human rights and national dignity are now accepted by the government as its policies. And our church is growing step by step both in quality and quantity by the grace of God.
With even stronger conviction I reaffirm the poem, "God's Way is the Best Way", which I wrote when I was in prison:
God's Way
I asked the Lord for a bunch of fresh flowers
but instead he gave me an ugly cactus with many thorns.
I asked the Lord for some beautiful butterflies
but instead he gave me many ugly and dreadful worms.
I was threatened,
I was disappointed,
I mourned.
But after many days,
Suddenly,
I saw the cactus bloomed with many beautiful flowers,
And those worms became beautiful butterflies
flying in the Spring wind.
